![]() ![]() LucasArts (the video game wing of Lucasfilm) was actively developing Star Wars 1313. Also, its setting on the dense city world of Coruscant is notable, too, with few Star Wars games taking the player the city-planet. The Book of Boba Fett series is the end of a long road of many attempts at a spin-off for the character. Unlike many Star Wars games, it would have involved platforming, third-person shooting, and interactive environments. ![]() The new videos do, however, shed more light on the game’s novel elements. These new videos not only give an extended look at the game, in comparison to what’s been revealed in the past, but explicitly show how Boba Fett would handle as a playable character. That’s left many Star Wars fans craving every ounce of the game they can get, leaping upon leaks and details about its early build. Since then, the game has been shelved and is unlikely to ever return to development. This week's video is the first to show what Boba Fett looked like as 1313 's playable hero, a development shift mandated by George Lucas months before the E3 2012 reveal. Officially revealed at E3 in 2012, development on the game had all but stopped by the following year after Disney purchased Lucasfilm. President of LucasFilm Kathleen Kennedy said in 2015 that the game was “gold” and that they don’t “want to throw any of that stuff away.” She also noted that they were “spending a lot of time looking at, pouring through, discussing, and may very well develop those things further.” However, that was almost seven years ago and with all of the other Star Wars games in production, it seems unlikely that 1313 will make any official reappearance any time soon and will only live on through leaks like these.Star Wars 1313 has gained a reputation as a tragically lost title. Artist Gus Mendonça also released some concept art of the game online a few years ago, too. That same year, Reddit user LifeByTheSword also uploaded a screen shot of Boba Fett on the same planet and features the same HUD and general look of the leaked footage. In 2020, Christopher Scott, who was a lead environmental artist on the game, uploaded some artwork on his ArtStation page, which also featured Coruscant. ![]() An animation test was uploaded to YouTube in 2016 and had some of the same footage seen at the end of the leaked gameplay. This is not the first time Star Wars 1313 has leaked out onto the internet. RELATED: Rumor: Star Wars Eclipse Is Still Few Years Away, Quantic Dream ‘Struggling’ To Hire Staff But it does show what LucasArts was going for and seems like a natural continuation of what was in the E3 2012 demo. There are many unfinished textures in this footage and it’s only available in 480p, meaning it is a little blurry. The video then ends with some unrelated snippets of other parts of the game like dramatic enemy death animations, more platforming, melee brawling, and various other animations that all takes place in a gray testing environment. Wouldve loved to have seen the story behind that. Its also cool seeing Boba in a proto version of his iconic outfit, having not painted Jangos armor yet. Now an orphan, Boba Fett grew up in the galaxy’s criminal underworld. The movement, design, sound (especially the sound), and basic gameplay mechanics demonstrated here were quite different compared to other Star Wars titles at the time. As 1313 would have focused on the seedier elements of the Star Wars canon, the storytelling would have dipped its toes into darker, more mature themes around Coruscants criminal underworld, with Boba Fett and a companion assassin droid getting caught in the middle of a major criminal conspiracy throughout the level of 1313. It then does a hard cut to an on-foot chase that is reminiscent of Uncharted as Fett pursues his target and completes various acrobatic feats along the way. The expert swordsman beheaded Boba’s father, an act that spawned a lifelong hatred of Jedi in the child. The video shows the bounty hunter walking through some market on Coruscant, a planet that has been featured or mentioned in other Star Wars media like Rogue One, Clone Wars, and The Phantom Menace. It was to follow the bounty hunter Boba Fett navigating Level 1313, a subterranean metropolis. This leaked gameplay was uploaded from The Vault, a channel mainly focused on Free Radical’s Battlefront III, yet another canceled Star Wars game. Star Wars: 1313 was a video game in development at LucasArts. Some bits and pieces have trickled out over the years, but now a gameplay video has leaked out, showing over three minutes of gameplay starring Boba Fett.įEATURED: Three Star Wars Games Including Star Wars Jedi: Fallen Order 2 Announced Out of all of the canceled Star Wars games, Star Wars 1313 was one of the more memorable ones because of its impressive showing at E3 2012, one year before the Disney acquisition more or less killed it. ![]()
